EXPERIMENTAL VEHICLES PROGRAM

Each year, MTSU students build a vehicle to participate in NASA's Great Moonbuggy Race. The vehicles are designed and built to simulate the Lunar Rover. Each Moonbuggy is human powered and carries two students, one female and one male, over a half-mile simulated lunar terrain course including "craters", rocks, "lava" ridges, inclines, and "lunar" soil.

In addition to other design regulations, prior to course testing, the un-assembled Moonbuggy entries must be carried to the course starting line, with the unassembled components contained in 4 foot cube
