It rained (again) for much of Sunday and Monday. Although our covers kept most of the rain out of our units, they were unable to keep the water from seeping in through the bottom.

After uncovering the units this morning, we noticed that most of them had standing water. The deepest unit in the C20-22 block had about 4 inches…

while C19 was approximately 19 inches below the elevated water table.

Despite the flooding, we were able to get some work done today in our shallower units. Given the depth of these units, we are mostly finding historic artifacts including pieces of bottle glass…

… and nails.

We also found several herbivore teeth.

By the end of the day, 1-2 inches of water had drained out of our units, so hopefully, we’ll be able to return to them in a few days.
