TAAPT 2013: March 22 and 23

Join us at MTSU, March 22 and 23

Save the date! The MTSU Department of Physics and Astronomy is pleased to host the 2013 annual meeting of the TAAPT. Join us in Murfreesboro on Friday night for dinner, followed by an invited talk from MTSU alumnus Dr. Jeremy Munday. On Saturday hear contributed talks from colleagues and view student posters, all in the ballroom at MTSU's brand new Student Union.

After the meeting officially closes, you are invited to attend a special panel discussion about job opportunities for physics graduates – more details are given below.

Registration will be open early in the new year. We look forward to seeing you at the 2013 TAAPT meeting at MTSU.

Job Opportunities for Bachelor-Degree Physics Graduates: A Panel Discussion

This panel discussion will be held after the conclusion of the TAAPT 2013 meeting on Saturday afternoon and will feature presentations by several physics graduates who went directly into the job market after receiving their BS degrees in Physics. They will discuss their experiences with different types of jobs—some physics related, some not—and how they think their physics degrees helped them out. There will also be a presentation by Mr. Dusty Doddridge, the Assistant Director of the MTSU Career Development Center, who works directly with our physics graduates. The Panel Discussion will then follow these brief presentations. The discussion will center on job opportunities for BS physics graduates, how best to market yourself, good non-physics courses to take, etc. University, college, and high school faculty and students are encouraged to attend.
