You will be expected to have
read the assigned material for each class in advance and be prepared for
a quiz at the start of class. Thus, you will get an initial exposure
to the material from the readings, before we cover it in class. This
is so that we can do more in class than merely lecture over material you
otherwise would know little about. Instead, you will be better prepared
to participate in class discussions, we will be able to focus more time
on areas you find most interesting or difficult, and we will have greater
flexibility to work with the material via in-class activities.
