Chapter Meetings

MTSU SHRM holds monthly chapter meetings where upcoming programs, conferences, volunteer, and possible internship opportunities are discussed. Meetings also feature a guest speaker who provides expert insight on a pertinent HR topic. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend.

Fall 2016

Description: There are so many great opportunities through SHRM National, MT SHRM, and MTSU SHRM, that we literally need an entire meeting just to tell you about them! This meeting will also be a fun time to just get to know others in the chapter, and what we're all about!

Description: Careers rarely travel in a Straight Line! Few MTSU I/O Alumni have experienced this more than Jen Sturgeon, MTSU I/O Graduate and Director of Consulting at HealthTrust, part of Hospital Corporation of America. Come and learn from a dynamic, energetic speaker on how to strategically circle your dream job before you take on the role.

Description: Training and Development is a career field many HR and I/O Psych professionals find very alluring. We love seeing others learn and grow! But how can you design training to get your people as excited about development as you are? Join us as we listen to Todd Brison, Training Spec at Morphotrust USA, discuss how he began his career and landed in training design.

Spring 2017

Description: Planning on going into Compensation? Project Management? Organizational Development? Performance Management? HR Analytics? Guess what? You are probably going to use Excel. Come and learn with us some of the more useful functions in Excel such as pivots, vlookups, conditional formatting, and more!

Come listen to a Talent Sourcing 101 presentation from one of the TOP Talen Acquisition professionals in Nashville, Matt LeBlanc.

Description: Benefits Program design and administration is certainly one of the most daunting areas of HR. Developing a system that is not only cost effective for your organization, but also motivates employees and increases retention is no simple task. Daniel Risen is a Consultant at CBIZ Benefits Consulting, and will provide insights into how different organizations can remain cost effective and competitive employers with the right benefits plan.
