It is, sadly, a commonplace that women earn less than men for comparable work. (Even
now, in the twenty-first century, American women earn only 78 cents for every dollar that
American men make.) More than twenty-five years ago, Professor June S. Anderson
decided to take concrete steps to address this inequality. Realizing that this
imbalance was partly caused by the fact that female students have been -- and
continue to be -- tracked into less prestigious and therefore less lucrative majors, she
decided to encourage those women who took the courageous step of majoring in
nontraditional fields. Please help us continue Professor Anderson's vision.
