We arrived at the site at our usual time—8 A.M. Yesterday, the crew had to carry all of the shovels, screens, buckets, etc. down to the site from the Wynnewood bungalow, but today, Richard kindly volunteered to transport all of our equipment using his ATV. We got a little bit of rain in the morning, but it was not enough to keep us out of the field. Before we leave in the afternoons, we always cover our units with plastic sheeting and plywood to make sure that they stay dry. Despite the early showers, it was hot and sunny for most of the day, so reapplying sunscreen at frequent intervals was critical. All of our units are still in the plowzone, so we are finding a jumbled mix of prehistoric artifacts like the biface that you see here… …along with historic ceramics… … and nails. The majority of these artifacts are been found in our shaker screens, like the one here operated by Maggie and Anastasia. However, our most “interesting” artifact so far was collected during an informal surface collection by Richard--- a debit card lost by Maddie during the 2017 field school. It looks like the white blimp from yesterday was indeed a good omen!
