          Homework/Quizzes
               |
          Quizzes will occur with some
frequency and will be announced at least one class period in
            advance.

            Homework assignments:

Written assignments are generally limited to two typed,
double-spaced pages. Assignments are generally submitted via
email. Name the files LastnameHW#.docx. For example, my
            homework 2 would be LangstonHW2.docx

              - HW1: Complete the pre-test assignment (due 1/24/20 in
                class)

              - HW2: Complete the Longino moment report (due 2/7/20)
                5080 Required WRR

                - Longino discusses the relationship between evidence
and hypotheses. Part of the discussion hinges on the
way that your point of view affects how you interpret
data. For your Longino moment, step out of science and
discuss a situation in your life where you had an
equivalent experience. For example, two people look at
the same situation and draw differing conclusions.
Obviously the conclusions can't depend entirely on
data or the conclusions would be the same. Discuss.

              - HW3: Snook-Longino report (due 2/10/20) 5080 Required
                WRR

                - Snook et al. (2008) provides a mechanism for
Longino's differing interpretations of data. Reflect
                  on that.

              - HW4: Present your project design to the class (due
                2/14/20)

              - HW5: Langmuir report (due 2/21/20) 5080 Required WRR

                - Find an example from psychology research that you
think might be pathological. Analyze it against the
                  features.

              - HW6: IRB draft (due 2/21/20)

              - HW7: Orne report (due 2/28/20) 5080 Required WRR

                - Find an example of research from psychology that
might be affected by demand characteristics. What are
they? How have they been addressed? Have they been
                  addressed adequately?

              - HW8: Final IRB proposal (due 3/6/20)

              - HW9: Literature review presentation to the class (due
                3/6/20)

              - HW10: Simmons report (due 3/16/20) 5080 Required WRR

                - Find an example from psychology where you think some
of the "false-positive tricks" might have been
applied. What are the clues? How could they be
                  addressed?

              - HW11: Complete data collection (due 4/3/20)

              - HW12: Present a draft of your MTPA presentation to
                class (due 4/17/20)
